Something a little different to help your little swimmers settle with LittleAqua

The Worry Bag

All parents want their children to enjoy hobbies, sports and activities.

Sometimes this is fun and the highlight of your kid's week but for others, it’s not the ideal experience. We understand at LittleAqua that some children are not always going to love their lessons all of the time, particularly at the beginning.

Is your land-locked little one just a little nervous, or actually deeply anxious about swimming? If so, don’t force or bribe them. Instead, trying to get to the cause of the issues is key. However, it’s easier said than done.

Water safety from an early age doesn’t just make those family holidays or trips to the local pool enjoyable - it saves lives. Drowning is the third highest cause of accidental death in children in the UK.

Therefore we have been searching for a partner to help you (and us!) get children talking and expressing their worries around swimming so we can keep them safe.

With Anita and www.worrybag.com we are confident we have found a fantastic solution. Her beautifully designed bags are perfect for helping your little ones to put their swimming worries, or any other worries for that matter, somewhere safe.

Here are just a few ways we think the Worry Bag could help one of our swimmers....

Nervous about being away from Mum

This is one of the most common causes for upset in our young swimmers, particularly around Pre-School age. Why not pack a scarf, special object or photo of Mum in your worry bag and allow them to bring it poolside with them.

I can’t go under the water!

If you’ve not been nervous about submerging under the water, you’re in the minority. Most children are understandably anxious when first learning this skill - a worry bag would be the perfect way to find out exactly why for those children who aren’t good at talking.

I’ve got a new teacher

Change can trigger a lot of different emotions for children. Often even the most confident children can struggle with it - being able to have a safe place to put their worries about a new swim teacher can be a big help.

The bag is not only perfect for swimming but could be used in a whole host of ways. They are available directly from Anita at www.worrybag.com but for anyone not convinced - she’s kindly given LittleAqua some bags for swimmers to trial.
